The first Icon I painted was a copy of a Madonna and Child Icon from Crete. I was inspired by the manner of working from a prototype of those depicted as a helper and portal. Surrounded by a golden celestial sky where light comes from all the directions. The Icons and the Onion Domes from my visit to Russia in 1991 made a lasting impression that stayed with me and constantly inspires and fuels my Iconographic work. Archangel Michael, Archangel Gabriel and Saint George are recurring angels in my work as the qualities they evoke in me I find empowering.
