This is a new series of paintings of Lighthouses in Dublin Bay and Poolbeg Chimneys at Dublin Port. These are well known images from around Dublin. They evoke for me a a sense of place and growing up in Dublin. The Poolbeg Chimneys are a unique landmark. They are the tallest structures in the Capital and can be seen from all around the city. They transcend their industrial utilitarian structure by bringing your gaze upward by their spire like qualities. I find Lighthouses very beautiful. They are always located on that edge. I see their value as paintings, attracting and guiding with their light and warning of hidden danger. This painting is part of a series of paintings that I am in the process of painting.
“White-tailed Sea Eagles, Bushy Island, Mountshannon” and “Moylussa, Sliabh Bernagh, view from Derrycon” are two paintings painted for an exhibition in our local Arts Festival in Mountshannon.
